INFINITI plans to make its offerings all-electric by 2030. What they said specifically is that they should have most of the vehicles all-electric by 2030, so it appears to be more of a loose date.

First EV

The expectation for INFINITI’s first EV is for 2022. The likelihood is that there’s going to be a dedicated platform for their EV. It’s said to be similar or even the same as one used by Nissan. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information available about Evs from INFINITI as of yet. The only hard facts given out by them include that they are going to be majority electric by 2030.

The focus is also on making sure that the tech is easy to use because they don’t want to overwhelm drivers with a lot of new technology related to all-electric. For this reason, INFINITI is said to be likely using hybrid vehicles for a while until they go with a majority of all EV vehicles by 2030.

Hybrids

This is why people following INFINITI and the electric revolution should expect hybrids first. Their philosophy is that they should get their customers used to this technology first instead of overwhelming them all at once. INFINITI emphasizes their customer-first approach, which will lead to combustion engines, all-electric engines, and many things in between, including what they call “advanced combustion engines.

They call this their “re-evaluation and reapproach” plan.

One of these vehicles is based on the Q and QX Inspiration vehicles where, at first, the electric part of the hybrid vehicle functioned mostly as a generator only. This is how they plan to transition towards fully EV units.

This technology will be similar to Nissan’s e-Power, but it will have a different name once it’s released. It is hybrid-like tech but will likely not be using that particular name. It will still have more efficient fuel systems and fewer emissions than a non-hybrid car, but not on the level of an EV.
