What’s New for The 2020 INFINITI Q50
The 2020 model year marks the seventh consecutive one for the INFINITI Q50, which replaced the popular G sedan. No longer is there a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine. The infotainment system has been revised with a new interface, as well as smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Which Trims & Features Are Available in 2020?
The 2020 INFINITI Q50 has four main trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sport, and Red Sport. There’s also the Edition 30, which celebrates INFINITI’s three decades in the luxury car market and is placed in the middle of the four trims. As a five-seater, the Q50 receives leatherette seat trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and front-row 8-way power adjustability as standard.
At the Sport trim level, the Q50 is improved with leather seating, front sports-style seats with heating ability, driver-seat power lumbar, 60/40 split-folding ability on the rear seat to expand cargo volume, and steering-wheel heating ability. Only the Red Sport has semi-aniline quilted leather-appointed seating and aluminum-accented food pedals. For comfort and convenience, the base-level Pure comes with features such as cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, a smart key system with push-button engine ignition, six-speaker audio, Bluetooth wireless technology for audio streaming and hands-free phone calling, high-definition AM/FM radio, a single-disc CD player with MP3 playback capability, two USB ports and an auxiliary audio jack for hooking up portable devices, a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, voice recognition, and a dual-display system that consists of 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower color information screens.
Enhancements such as auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, multimedia playback ability from a USB flash drive, and a three-month trial of SiriusXM Travel Link are introduced at the Luxe trim level. The Sport and Red Sport trims have remote engine start, a navigation system with lane guidance and 3D building graphics, Wi-Fi hotspot for 4G LTE Internet access, and a three-month trial of SiriusXM Traffic.
A Perfect Blend of Power and Fuel Efficiency
All trims save for the Red Sport have a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that puts out 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The V6 on the Red Sport is tweaked to produce 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, and it is accompanied by two turbo speed sensors and dual water pumps. The Q50 engine is pinned to an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission. INFINITI gives the option to choose between a rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Safety Features in The Forefront for 2020
The 2020 INFINITI Q50 comes with standard safety and security features such as a rearview camera, six airbags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, forward collision warning, forward emergency braking, hill start assist, and a theft-deterrent system. Upgrade in trim to get additions or enhancements such as blind-spot warning, a surround-view camera, front and rear sensors, backup collision intervention, and automatic collision notification and emergency call abilities.
