2021 QX50 Is Impressive No Matter Which Trim You Choose

A five-seater with standard front-wheel drive (and optional all-wheel drive), the 2021 INFINITI QX50 is split into Pure, Luxe, Essential, Sensory, and Autograph trim levels. Two rows of leatherette-trimmed seats include 8-way power front seats, with the driver facing a leather-wrapped steering wheel. You would need to go with at least the Sensory to gain leather seat trim, steering-wheel heating, and driver-seat memory. Only the Autograph has semi-aniline leather seat trim and front-seat ventilation.

Infotainment on the QX50 combines a six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system, four USB ports, Bluetooth, three months of SiriusXM Radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, hands-free text messaging, Siri Eyes Free for voice recognition, and a dual-display system that consists of an 8-inch upper screen and a 7-inch lower screen. A touchpad controller is added as a complementary way of executing functions, instead of relying on the dual-display interface.

Also present are features such as a dual-zone automatic climate control system and a smart key system with a push-button engine. Auto-dimming ability and a garage-door opener appear on the rearview mirror if you go up a notch to the Luxe. The essential transforms the infotainment interface with a navigation system, and INFINITI adds three months of SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link, and a navigation system. The Sensory replaces the six-speaker setup with a 16-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system is exclusive to the Autograph.

What’s Under the Hood of The INFINITI QX50?

The 2021 QX50 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. This is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Fuel economy is 23 MPG in the city and 29 MPG with highway driving, one of the best in its class.

2021 Brings a Wide Selection of Safety Tech

Even at the base level, the 2021 QX50 is loaded with safety features designed to help you avoid crashes. These technologies include distance control assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, forward collision warning, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. In the event of a crash, though, the QX50 can deploy any of six airbags, and automatic collision notification and emergency call function enable you to call for help in the aftermath. The Luxe adds traffic sign recognition and smart cruise control with stop-and-go technology. On the Essential, Sensory, and Autograph, replace the rearview camera with rear parking sensors with an around-view camera with both front and rear parking sensors.
