Women

In honor of International Women’s Day, the navigation app Waze and INFINITI announced their partnership, marking women’s businesses and history. 14 North American countries will have historical landmarks and women owned businesses set for marking. The initiative is set to continue for a whole women’s month.

Speaking in an interview, the marketing and communications Shelley Pratt said that it is time for women need to be recognized for their immense contribution to society, which has gone unnoticed over the years. The INFINITI’s executive noted that they had seen many street marks in North America that was not appropriately named for women. The narrative needed to change, which pushed the company to start a sensitization of diversity and see women who challenged the convention recognized.

Some women owned businesses and gave back to societies but also went unrecognized; this is another reason the company needed to showcase who they are. The selected cities are to show women’s symbols with light purple pins indicating participating businesses. These cities are Washington, Philadelphia, Toronto, Nashville, etc.
With the help of the Waze app, all users are to drive near the selected landmarks and click on them for more information that is to be read out just like other directions are usually read. Users will also have an opportunity to find other destinations when searching for these landmarks using the Waze app.

The National Women’s History Museum contributed to the selection of these landmarks as it is the most recognized institution for uncovering and celebrating women who have made contributions to society.

Waze’s chief revenue officer Suzie Reider said that their core commitment is service to the community, which is central to what they do. Waze works with volunteers worldwide to ensure drivers have updated information on every location. The company finds it necessary to celebrate local businesses that hold the society together.

The navigation company intends to encourage users to change their car icons to the INFINITI QX60 2022 model. The brand features a 12.3-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay, and an Android Auto USB cable to help navigate using the new Waze features.
